About us…

Mount Sequoyah is situated in the beautiful Boston Mountains of Northwest Arkansas.  The mountain itself overlooks the city of Fayetteville, a bustling and energetic college town.  With a quiet secluded parklike feel, all of the amenities of a city are just minutes away.  Dickson street, the main thorough fair of restaurants and shops is a short half mile walk down the hill.

Built in the early 1920’s as a retreat center, Mount Sequoyah has multiple pavilions, hiking paths, a pool, tennis courts, a dining hall, and numerous meeting spaces and lodgings.  Amongst its buildings the largest is Sequoyah Hall, a beautiful four story structure built in the 20’s with all of its original heart pine woodwork in its original condition.  This building has been dedicated as studio space for local artists, with each of its dormitory style rooms providing unique space for artists, writers, musicians, and performers to create and share.

In addition to studio space, we offer multiple dedicated exhibition, installation, and performance spaces.  Ozark, a gorgeous vaulted midcentury space, has been transformed into a unique, and singular in the region, exhibition space.  Additionally we regularly rotate exhibitions in the Great Rooms of Sequoyah Hall and Parker hall.  In partnership with the University of Arkansas’ art department, we also offer rotating installation and outdoor sculpture space to students thinking in three dimensions.

Our vision is to become a living art space, where artists from all fields are constantly making work, transforming spaces, and providing community and support to one another.
