About the work..

“wedding Arch” by Eugent Sargent

This piece was created in the spring of 2022 as a site specific installation. Situated near Vesper Point, where hundreds of weddings have occurred, this piece symbolizes two families growing together to create a strong arch. Twelve “cloudlets’ symbolize the months of the year and tie to the symbolic references to the calendar and passage of time which is a key element of many historical outdoor monuments.

“greetings” by Jody Travis Thompson

Jody relocated to Northwest Arkansas from Asbury Park, New Jersey to complete his MFA at the University of Arkansas. This piece is a site specific mural that was created in 2022 to bring a bit of the charm of Asbury Park’s signage to the Mountain. Each of the letters is either formed from historical photos from Mount Sequoyah’s early years, or current photos of performers and artists on the mountain.

“Dogwoods and birds” by ziba rajabi

Created from hand painted canvas squares sewn together to emulate the form of a quilt. The inspiration for this piece was the native flora and fauna outside Ziba’s studio at Mount Sequoyah. She held a studio on campus from 2019 to 2022.
