Sequoyah Hall Gallery

The Great Room at Sequoyah Hall is a beautiful exhibition space. This gallery can accommodate up to 60 people for openings, with a small kitchenette for serving. We offer this space for rotating curated exhibitions.  In partnership with the University of Arkansas’ art department, we also offer installation and outdoor sculpture space to students thinking in three dimensions.  check our events page for upcoming performances and events, or contact jessica@mountsequoyah.org to inquire about exhibiting or performing in this space.

Artist Submissions

Submissions for the 2026 season are now open. All submissions are due by December 31st. All artist proposals are reviewed by committee appointed by Mount Sequoyah.  Final decisions for annual show schedule will be made by Jan 9th, 2026.

Emails to Mount Sequoyah will NOT be considered. You must fill out the application.

GUIDELINES - Please review the guidelines below before submitting.

Eligibility

Open to Arkansas artists working in all media. Artists may not exhibit at the Mount Sequoyah Gallery in consecutive seasons. Exceptions may be made in certain instances, such as the artist is exhibiting as part of an artist collective/group.

Both established and emerging artists who have demonstrated the ability to produce a body of work with a consistent style and theme will be considered.

If your work was chosen through the Selection Committee, the art that you show must be similar to that contained in your proposal. Mount Sequoyah reserves the right to reject any artwork that differs significantly from the art represented in the proposal and/or portfolio.

Prospective artists may submit proposals for individual artist shows or collaborative efforts with other artists.

Media

All media and disciplines are welcome, subject to the physical constraints of the gallery space. At this time, we cannot accept works that are fragile or extend into the gallery’s main floor space.

SUBMISSION PROCESS

​All submissions must be made via Mount Sequoyah’s on-line submission site.

Mount Sequoyah retains a 10% commission on all art sales

Prospective exhibiting artists must submit:

  • The application with all pertinent information and agree to all artist responsibilities.

  • Visual documentation of ten images. Brief descriptions may be included as a part of this documentation. The images should reflect a cohesive body of work.

  • Brief Statement of Proposal explaining the exhibit’s theme/concept.

  • Bio / Resume – highlighting your art-related activities and accomplishments.

  • Submissions will be reviewed and judged by the Mount Sequoyah Selections Committee. The Committee is comprised of artists, educators, and other art professionals.

Gallery Specifications:

  • The Sequoyah Hall Gallery is located at 150 Skyline Drive in Fayetteville AR, on the grounds of Mount Sequoyah Creative Center.

  • The Gallery has about 1000 square feet of exhibition space. See map below.

  • Walls are concrete and all work is hung by a rail system. It is not possible to hang any work directly from the wall.

  • Lighting consists of a suspended track.

  • The Sequoyah Hall Gallery also serves as a meeting space for groups and meetings. Works cannot be placed in the central floor space of the gallery.

Mount Sequoyah’s Responsibilities

  • Mount Sequoyah staff will assist in the installation and deinstallation of the exhibitions. Installations are typically the Tuesday prior to the show and deinstallations are typically the Monday after a show, both during regular business hours. Please let us know if we need to reschedule in advance.

  • Mount Sequoyah will create labels for exhibition. This information must be emailed 3 weeks prior to the opening of the exhibition.

  • Mount Sequoyah will host a reception for the artist, typically on the first Friday of the exhibition.

  • Mount Sequoyah will provide images and press releases to local and statewide media outlets and promote the show via our website and social media.

  • Gallery will be staffed throughout the duration of the show during regular gallery hours gallery hours, Thursdays and Fridays 2:00- 5:00 pm.

Artist Responsibilities

  • Providing final artist/show statement and media promotional photos one month before opening day.

  • Artists are responsible for creating, printing, and sending exhibition postcards

  • Providing a final price list for the show one week before opening day. 

  • Installation of work will be done on the date agreed upon by the artist and Mount Sequoyah. A staff member must be present during the installation of all exhibitions.

  • Shipping costs are the artist’s responsibility. Additionally, shipping costs on purchased works are artist is responsible for negotiating and making shipping arrangements with the buyer. 

  • Artists wishing to sell “extras” during the show, such as prints, books or other items, must seek approval from Mount Sequoyah prior to opening day. Sales of these item may only be done during the Opening reception or by prior arrangements with Mount Sequoyah.  Additionally, Mount Sequoyah will be entitled to a commission on all such sales.  

  • Insurance / Liability: The artist is responsible for safe delivery and return of work. Mount Sequoyah will do all it can to maintain the safety of the art while on exhibit but does not assume responsibility for any damage that might occur.

  • If work is not removed by the artist at the close of the exhibition, and no other arrangements have been made, artist forfeits those works to Mount Sequoyah.

Mount Sequoyah DOES NOT CARRY INSURANCE THAT WOULD COVER DAMAGE TO OR THEFT OF ARTWORK. Artists are encouraged to obtain their own insurance coverage.

Gallery Opening Dates for 2026

Opening Receptions are always on Fridays from 6pm-8pm

  • January 23rd

  • March 20th

  • May 25th

  • July 10th

  • September 4th

  • November 13th

Art will be installed the Tuesday prior to opening day.

Art will be deinstalled on the Monday prior to the next opening.
